DoFollow Blogs – How To Find Them?

We have talked about how to make blog comments and build links at the same time for more traffic and sales in the earlier post but I think it’s just not complete without telling you how to find the correct blogs to leave your blog comments.

Okay, give a man a fish and feed him for a day or teach a man to fish and feed him for life! Well, I’m going to do just both for you.

Finding a blog to comment upon is a challenge and finding a blog with dofollow enabled is even more challenging. But we all know that the benefits of the dofollow right? So, it’s time worth spends simply because comments that you left at dofollow blogs count towards your blog PR.

But we are going beyond the backlink benefit here. We are also keen in the traffic that these comments are going to give us. So, here are your fish / fishes:

(Note: Don’t get busy looking at them first. I know it’s tempting! But my purpose is to teach how to fish. So, don’t go anywhere before you finish reading this complete blog post!)

And some dofollow directory to search and also to submit your blog if it was a dofollow to get more traffic to your blog: (Stay with me, just don’t click at them first till you finish reading the whole thing)

And….some dofollow search engines for easy search too:

(Hold on. Stay with me first and don’t get allured by these links yet. There are more to learn)

There is a problem however with these kinds of listings. What? Well, I came across a few blogs from listing like this that was not dofollow. Don’t be surprised. It’s just not easy to maintain a clean list. This is exactly why I wanted to teach you how to fish.

Okay, the very first thing that you need to learn is how to spot a dofollow blog. There are 2 ways of doing it:

Looking at the source code of the blog – This is going to be tiring if you were to check on the source code of each blog that you wanna leave a comment. Anyway, this is how you’re gonna do it. If you’re using Firefox (which you should!), click on the “View” tab and scroll to click on the “View Source” and you’ll be presented with something like this.

See, this is a nofollow blog. And the one below is a dofollow blog (my blog :) )

Clear? So, that’s how can do it to check whether the blog that you are about to comment on is dofollow enable. The second way is what I’m actually doing because it saves me a lot of time.

You can install the SEO for Firefox add on that will hilighted all links that are nofollow in red (you can set the colour in the preference but the default is red for nofollow links). So, every time that you want to check on the links attribute of a blog, simply click on the add on and all no follow links will be hilighted (in red – default setting).

There’s still one problem however with this add on. You will get block by search engines (temporarily) from collecting data if you use it too often. So, please make sure it’s off if you’re not doing any search.

Due to this drawback, I’m using this bookmarklet found at nfollow.com/ instead and it works just fine. Look at the results of my blog:

Well, yeah! My blog is dofollow. (Don’t spam me!)

Okay, we’re now at the most important part. I’m going to show you 2 simple ways on how you can actually find dofollow blogs with ease. So, use it with due diligence and with some effort and persistency, getting high PR backlinks and instant traffic with blog comments is a breeze. And well yeah, it cost you nothing.

Finding Dofollow Blogs Using Comment Plugin Footprint

The first method that we are going to utilize is to search for comment plugin footprint. Many bloggers (esp. those who are using Wordpress platform) will install plug in like CommentLuv, KeywordLuv, TopCommentators, Recent Comments etc. to encourage blog visitors to participate in commenting on their blogs. So, here’s how you can do it…

I like keywordluv plugin most because the links it creates are dofollow and that it allows visitors to put any anchor text link they like. The only bad thing is that it will most likely invite spam to blog owners. As you can see from their site, this is what happens when people leave their comment:

“When your readers leave a comment, they should leave their name and keywords in the Name field, using the following format: name@keywords.

When posts are displayed, the plugin searches for the @ character, strips it out and moves the name to front (outside the link).”

Oopps, Sorry! I’m getting too far. Here’s the method to do the search:
Simply use below search string with / without quotes on Google or Yahoo and you’ll be presented with more than enough dofollow blogs to comment on. Simply replace “yourniche” with your targeted niche.

“@YourKeywords yourniche”
“This site uses KeywordLuv yourniche”

For Commentluv search, here is the search string you can use. Don’t forget to double check if the blog is dofollow enabled, using the method described above if you’re commenting for backlinks purpose.

“Enable CommentLuv yourniche”

For top commentators search, here are some search string you can use:

Top commenter yourniche
Top commenters yourniche
Top commentators yourniche
Top commentors yourniche

Again, unlike KeywordLuv, you’ll need to double check if the blog is dofollow enabled. However, if you’re simply commenting for blog traffic, then this is the quick and easy way to locate blogs that are comment enabled.

Finding Dofollow Blogs Using Google Image Search

Excited? Okay, one more method to turn you into a blog comments expert for both traffic and backlinks. You’re going to do an image search at Google for these strings:

ifollowblue.gif
ifollowgreen.gif
ifollowpink.gif
ifollowpurple.gif
ifollowltgreen.gif
ifolloworange.gif
ifollowwhite.gif
ifollowmagenta.gif
ifollow.(gif/png/jpg, take your pick)
utrackback_ifollow.gif
ifollow-red.png
inurl:ucomment
inurl:ifollow

I discovered this from slightlyshadyseo.com and is indeed a method that has not been discussed before. A very eye opening method that the crowds know not.

That’s it! The only thing that you need to get it work is to take action now! Hey, and don’t forget the rules – Do not spam!

Cheers!

    Great comprehensive list.

But don’t get too obsessed with this. Do it sparingly and at the same time consistently while keeping on track on your other main internet business effort.

  6. Omg, those tips are excellent. Thanks for sharing. Hehe, so easy and logical. It is fair better to go with your methods because with it you can easily find related topic blog to your site, then going through all lists. Also it is much easier to find keyword enabled blogs and top commentators.
SEO plugin is what is best for time sparing while checking if blog is dofollow. I never had problem with google overusing it.

  7. You’re welcome Judit! Doing it correctly and consistently and you’ll be getting both the traffic and PR benefits real soon. It’s no brainer.

Well, I’m not sure why but my SEO plugin always return an error after a few continuous checking made. So, I prefer the latter. No problem so far.

  23. Hi Dave,
You can try either with or without quotes. However, some niches just don’t have enough to show if you put the quotes. So, I normally leave out the quotes to do the search.

Backslash? No, it’s not necessary anywhere in your search string. Enjoy!

  31. Thats a lot of good info. I have tried some of the custom “dofollow” search engines before and many of the sites listed are no longer dofollow. It seems these search engines bring in a lot of spammers and the blog owners end up turning nofollow back on. So, I like the techniques you’ve laid out. Thanks.

  32. Great article, I think I will definitely give your suggestions a try.

  33. Very thorough post. What’s bugging me lately is that every time I go and try using a DoFollow blog search engine it returns results that include a lot of blogs that are not DoFollow anymore – does anybody else notice this often?

  34. Hi Kyle! Hi Steve!
Well, yeah. It’s a tiring task for those dofollow blog search engine owner to keep a clean list. And as Kyle pointed out, blog owners might have switched back to nofollow due to excessive spams. So, if your blog is a dofollow, make sure you have Akismet.

“Comments links could be nofollow free”

Very nice post. Maybe someday I will be desperate enough and try the image search, but man, that seems like a lot of work. Cheers.

  36. Thanks for the great post. Anyone I have already install firefox plug in name (seo for fire fox and SEO Quake) it will indicate which blog are no follow.

  55. Finidng do follow blogs is a difficult task. But when you do find them they are gold. Good luck everyone looking for the golden nuggets. They do exist!

  56. I just posted some new Free U Comment I Follow Buttons & Badges on my blog for anyone who wants a dofollow badge that’s a little more Web 2.0

  57. Basically, the internet is one giant poll to Google, and each link counts as a vote. There are other factors that intefere, but we’ll keep it as is for simplicity’s sake. The more links you have, the more popular your site is – and that’s exactly what Google wants to find, the most popular/authorative sites on the web.

The NoFollow attribute tells Google, “Don’t count this link as a vote for this website”. Whilst Google might still crawl the website’s content, it definitely does not add any link-weight. Well done, you’ve now penalized both the legitimate commenters as well as the spammers. Makes sense.

I’ve made one of my blogs into a dofollow blog and here are my results (in comparison to a number of other, more popular, nofollow blogs that I own):

    1. More comments.
    2. Discussion. Because my links were carrying link-juice, and I was only accepting good quality comments, I ended up with proper, meaningful discussion that was pertinent to the article. I’m sure many of you bloggers only get spam and scraper comments

  58. Thanks for the excellent tips, great help! & REALTRIX, that’s def one good, educational comment. =) Its always nice to generate an active interaction to one’s site — less the spammers.

  67. Hi
Nice article, I however agree with realtrix about the value of comments. Having said that I really do not pay any attention to whether blog/site is follow/nofollow, I am really only interested in useful information. Linkjuice is as far as I am concerned a byproduct.

  68. thanks

  69. That’s some interesting info. I liked your unique point of view… thanks bud

  71. Well, useful and unique content will always be the king. But a kingdom with just the king without the queen seem awkward to me. So, treat “linking” as the queen. When both present, you’ll see the power and have to agree with me even if you do not want to :)

I’ve tried several software that claim to find dofollow blogs, but never delivered the promise. With KeywordLuv trick I’ve manually found dozens of keyword-related blogs and made 18 comments (no spam of course!), which is much more effective than with the help of automated software. Gotta see higher rankings now for the promoted hubpage.
I use NoDofollow plugin for FireFox which conveniently shows the status of external links.

  128. Back in the day when blogs were first starting, nasty spammers used to abuse blog commenting, and spam the comments with their yuckky links, trying to promote all kinds of junky porny gambly sites. To combat this, Google implemented the “no follow” tag. This tag was picked up by wordpress and impelemented for URLs in comments as standard in their scripts. What it means is that URLs in the comments field are ignored by google, and pagerank and indexing are not improved for the target sites, from these links. The expectation was that this would disuade spammers from commenting on blogs.

  129. Wow seriously, this is one of the most informative posts I have seen about finding DoFollow blogs, I’ve just bookmarked it, as I learned some new search methods involving images and a few new keywords to type in the search engines to find blogs that I want to comment on :)

Dofollow is good specially if you are “socializing” or having a good discussions with your visitors.

  161. It is obvious that you have put alot of effort into this! I thought I’d just leave a quick message saying good job!!

  162. Your method is good, but there is another way to find quality dofollow blogs. There is a software called fast blog finder – I have been using it for a long time to find quality blogs in any niche.

  163. Thanks for this information. But internet move very fast.

  164. Great blog. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

  165. Thanks a lot for sharing these Very useful tips. The only trouble is that site that have a dofollow now can turn into nofollow once they see people misusing it. So most dofollow blogs or links are shortlived.

Allthesame, your tips were an eye opener. Really appreciated it.

    Thanks.

    Cheers.

    Sharon

  166. Hi There, Good tips you got here. Perhaps can you also show us how to get or search for a *.edu blogs that is dofollow? I heard that *.edu blog are really good in terms of boosting your PR. I’m not an SEO guru but that’s what I heard from different forums.

  167. Hai2u Guys and Gals, I do strongly agree with Sharon above me – however, for a beginner, these are some awesome and useful tips. Well done. [Kene]

  168. Hi Sharon, Hi Kene,
Well, that’s right. There’s possibility that dofollow blogs owner who do not know how to handle spams and have poor security setting on their blogs often switch back to nofollow once they have attained to an independent level of PR and traffic.

So, for them nothing to lose. On the other hand, if you’re commenting on these blogs and link to your own blogs (not a static site but a self hosted blog on your own server), you’ll have the same priviledge. Once PR and traffic reach an independent level, it doesn’t matter whether the links that you’ve previously built through these dofollow blogs become nofollow.

But of course, we would want to treat everybody fair and not inviting readers to comment only because of the PR and traffic and dump them when we have reached our goal.

    Cheers!

  169. Hi Amy,
You just need a simple search string on Google to dig these .edu blogs out. However, .edu blogs are normally educational portals.

I’m afraid putting this up will put them in troubles.. ;)

They are already contaminated with those sex and viagra spammers!

Show me why you need it and before my final decision..

    Cheers!

  170. These are some great and very useful tips. I didn’t realize until today how common the NOFOLLOW attribute was.

  171. Thanks NetBizSimplified for the great advice. Will implement some of your ideas.

  172. Very interesting article you put here. If I may add, I also use this search string for finding web directories that I can submit my website.

    intitle:list “your keywords”

    Hope it helps.

  173. DoFollow blogs are great. Keyword Luv is a fantastic concept.

  175. Excellent you save me. I was really suffering Dofollow and Nofollow now i have learnd from you thanks a lot.

  176. Definitely one of the best blog commenting articles I’ve seen. I even obeyed and didn’t click the links until after I finished reading the post. Thanks for sharing.

  177. I just want to point out that Google is not the only search engine in the universe. as a matter of fact,*if i am not mistaken* i think that search engines such as yahoo and ask.com don’t even take into consideration the nofollow tag…in the end it is just a matter of posting…the more you do the better.

Finally someone who can write a good blog ! I loved your post and will be telling others about it. Subscribing to your RSS feed now. Thanks

  178. Good information. I never thought about image search or some of the other terms you use. I have to try it and see how it works for some niche terms also.

  179. Hmm..well maintained blog here :)

  180. WOW- that’s a great huge detail. Glad that I found your blog. I was laughing while I’m reading your blog especially the italized sentences. Sorry but I was so eager too when I get through the links of DoFollow blogs and that surprised me that you’ve got the huge list. You’re such a genius. Thanks for everything!

  181. Nice list of do follow search engines….thanks for this great post..:)

  182. Thanks for valuable information. Do-Follow helps to encourage bloggers to comment on others blog as if i am not getting any benefit i will avoid to comment on others blog and with comments some time you get new information on old posts. commenting is nice way to upgrade your post for your readers. So it also beneficial for the Bloggers.

  183. I use Blog Comment Demon to find my Dofollow blogs.

  184. Hi,
Now i will find the dofollow blog for different category easily.
    Thanks for the sharing.

  185. The list of do-follow directories is very nice and helpful. Thanks for listing them here.

  186. great job buddy. I have been trying a lot to finding ways to find do-follow blogs. I really came to know about many ways. U have done a wonderful job posting this post. Thanks Buddy. Thanks a lot.

  187. Hello. I just noticed there aren’t any list of the Do-Follow blogs anymore…but I’ve got a question [I'm still kinda new in d seo thingy] if you could assist me with. Are “No-Follow” links completely irrelevant to google? cos there was a site i pasted a link on, i clearly saw it was a “no-follow” link [with the seo firefox thing] but google soon acknowledged it, and credited me for it.

  188. I think the case by case do follow is a good idea, although it may prove to be very time consuming. I think do follow does get abused and it is unfair to people who actually contribute to watch others spam the board and still get the same quality link.

  189. Really very helpful post please keep posting more about this kind of things. Highly Appreciated.

  190. Hi,
Do-Follow helps to encourage bloggers to comment on others blog as if i am not getting any benefit i will avoid to comment on others blog and with comments some time you get new information on old posts.
They are already contaminated with those sex spammers.
    Thanks.

  191. Thank you for this tip ! I was dying for this feature to be included in Blogger, and now finally….

  192. Great post and very useful information. Yours is the only blog with a shortcut on my desktop because it has truly useful information not presented elsewhere. great job1

  193. Thanks for the dofollow blog list. Its priceless but we can never be sure, when the dofollow turn into nofollow.

  194. This is a very impressive list Waken. I noticed that many blogs specify “external nofollow” instead of just plain-old “nofollow”. What is the difference?

  195. This is the mos helpful post i have ever got also i get a toolbar here and i have set that into my browser and its really working. Thanks for the great post and please keep updating things that will be helpful for us :)

  196. [...] than writing all over again here… I did some blog posts on this subject some time back .. DoFollow Blogs ? How To Find Them? | NetBizSimplified How To Make Blog Comments & Build Links The Right Way | [...]

  197. You’re welcome!

  198. Basically, a link marked with “external” is external and a link marked with “nofollow” is not followed. A link marked with both is both external and not followed. You can get more technical explanation here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=65553 (look for replies from Dodger).

  199. thank you, great post, good job!

  200. I don’t usually reply to posts but I will in this case. WoW :)

  201. Thanks, your posts are always really informative and useful to me. Keep up the good work.

  202. You can also check a blog that whether it is Do Follow Or No follow by right clicking on any comment link.A pop-up will appear if there is written “External” or Same Window” Then the Blog Is Do Follow and if there is written “Nofollow” or “external nofollow” then it is off course a No Follow Blog. :)

  203. Oh..oh.. I didn’t notice that. Thanks Shane!

If you’re using Firefox, right click your mouse and chose “properties”. For Chrome users, right click and “inspect elements”.

  204. Wow I was very impressed with your technique to search for Dofollow blogs via image searches, I had never thought of this before! Now it’s too bad that you can’t limit your searches to only .com domain names on the image searches, but only the standard searches :(
