Here are some alternatives that you can use to create equally high quality video commercials and grab a piece of the video traffic.

Jing – There are free version and pro but the free version works just as great. However, you cannot use the free version to record from webcam and can only produce swf file format. Anyway, the pro version costs less than $0.05 per day. Works on both Windows and Mac; just make sure you download the correct file.

Camstudio – This is an open source software and it’s totally free. It has all basic function and the file size is small. You can choose to record in AVI or SWF (Flash) format. It also comes with the ability to add watermark and annotation on the video you created. So far, works only on Windows PC.

ScreenToaster – This one is also free but it’s not a software that you’ll need to download and install on your PC. Rather, it’s a free service that allows you to record your computer screen just like having a screen capture software. Just register for an account and you can start using it for free.

I had the experience of sending people to an affiliate site with a shorten url in my Adwords ads and soon realized that the service was down. Damn it! I still had to pay for each and every click that I got.

And recently, I discovered that there are a few popular url shortener services that are always down. If you are using any of these, you would better update them now.

Offto.net – This was a great service by Jon Leger. You can make short your long affiliate links here and even track the hits that it’s getting. Best of all, if the vendor site you’re promoting has an affiliate page that were trying to attract people to become an affiliate, you can even hide the link from showing on the vendor page. Isn’t that amazing? It’s the only service that I have ever came across with such powerful feature.

But Jon decided to sell this a month ago (End July 2009).

And the new guys seem to be messing up not only the service at Offto.net (the site is always down since the transfer of ownership to the new guy) but the mailing list as well. I don’t normally get emails from Jon unless with some great offers or tutorials but this new guy seem to be promoting everything that he come across without even contemplating on the quality of the stuff. I already unsubscribed myself. And I was about to send Jon a complaint for transferring my email address to the purchaser without my consent. You see, there’s always such a note during subscription that says “We respect your email address and will never rent, sell or share it with anybody” but I couldn’t locate it anywhere. So, nothing can be done. Just move on..

snipurl.com – Well, I’ve never use this service before but it’s a popular one that people have been raving about.

However, the service seem to be down for too long to assume that it was some technical glitch. If you’re using it, better update your links with a working one.

There are many url shortener services out there but 2 years ago not many offers tracking. They just shorten your long affiliate url but never provide tracking. But lately, we have a lot of services that provides tracking as well that shows the number of visit your particular shorten url has been clicked.

Listed below are some popular free url shortener services that offer tracking capability as well:

However, there’s no way to guarantee that they will always be up and good all the time. Make your own due diligence to check on the site often just to ensure that the site is still working.

Anyway, I have my own checklist to evaluate their services prior to joining them. But please don’t treat this as 100% accurate. It’s just the way I make the judgment base on common sense (Totally personal and I disclaim any liability of following this).

• Make a WHOIS check to see how long they have been in service. Generally, the longer the better.
• Check the page PR – Again, the higher the better.
• Check the Alexa’s ranking of the site – The smaller the number the better. (The most popular site has Alexa ranking of 1)
• Check the loading speed of the site – of course the faster the site loads, the better. As we are actually borrowing space and bandwidth from the site, we need the one that loads fast.

So, that’s it. Choose the one that you feel reliable and convenient to you. There’s of course no way to ensure that these services will have zero downtime. You cannot even guaranteed zero downtime if you’re hosting a script on your own server too if that’s what you’ve been hearing gurus telling about and then “selling” you their script. As it will depends on your hosting provider uptime and downtime.

Anyway there are great opportunity for you if you were hosting a similar url shotener service instead of for your personal use. Just take Offto.net as an example. Imagine how much you could sell the business for once it has some PR and Alexa ranking. And if you were to make it compulsory for user to subscribe before using your service, your list almost grows on its own. Well, it’s really a viable business if you know how to market it. These are common threads that I come across in forums where people desperately looking for a mentor to teach them to make money online. And it’s a common sight to see a lot of replies following the thread with some somewhat self promotional replies.

Now the questions that you’ll need to keep in mind when when looking for a mentor that suits you are:

(1) Are these so-called mentors’ credible people?

There are a lot humbugs out there and this is an undeniable fact. How many times have you come across claims like:

“I made $3000 in a week after following the ebook. Buy the book by clicking here and you’ll make money”

“I’ve bought all ebooks about internet marketing, took every course out there, spent thousand of dollars and now making millions. I’ve refined everything in my ebook, and all you need is my ebook. Get it now”

Come on, if making money online is that easy, why isn’t everybody making money online and quit their job? It would be great if it was that easy and buying a few ebooks or software is what it takes to build an online business. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. An ebook or software could be a small piece of the internet business puzzle but definitely not the whole picture.

As a matter of fact, all jobs requires 2 kinds of training – book training and “on the job training”. If you know nothing about cooking, do you think reading some cooking manuals is all you need to be able to cook?  Next..

2) What are their specializations and are their specialty what you want to learn?

No one person is a specialist in all fields and everything. Even with internet marketing or to make money online; there are a lot of ways. So, you’ll have to be very clear of your own liking on which route to follow. This is one of the important things when finding a mentor too.

However, just don’t complicate things. Follow the system that you’ve read and write at least 10 articles per day for 21 days with each day targeting a new niche. During the 21 days, don’t login your affiliate account to check your account performance. Login only on the last day and be prepared for a surprise!

• You can add pictures and videos to increase page view (a good emotional trigger)

• There will be no ads on your article page for higher click thru

• You can place 2 resource boxes (one at the top and one bottom) that will guarantee better performance.

• You can track your article performance (what search term visitors found your article, where did they come from, what link did they click on your article page and etc.

• Articles are reviewed by human (just like Ezinearticles.com) to keep the site clean and favored by search engines and free from duplicates, PLR junks and the like.

• You’ll get the infamous $49 worth Article Marketing Handbook free.

• You’ll get continuous insider article marketing tips, tutorials and support.

2)   Travis also recommends Micro Niche Finder (MNF) of which I couldn’t comment as I’ve never used it. However, I found that the best keywords software apart from MNF and Keyword Elite for Bum Marketing purpose is Adword Analyzer. This is nothing new but it’s really powerful in finding Bum Marketing keyphrases (keywords that are 3 words long and above).

Have a look how Adwords Analyzer (USD 77) beats 2 expensive keywords software (ClickAd Equalizer @ USD 97 & Daddy Keyword from Google Nemesis suite @ USD 77 monthly) when finding Bum Marketing Keyphrases.

There was no result found with ClickAdEqualizer on this phrase “how to get rid of” without the quotes. I’ve tried changing the sources of search with Wordtracker and Overture but it return nothing either.

Then, I tried searching the same phrase with Daddy Keyword Tool and it returned no results either..

However, the results was amazing when the same keyphrase was searched using Adword Analyzer.

Isn’t that easy pickings? It’s a lot easier for your articles to rank on search engines with longer keyphrases and Adword Analyzer just make it a breeze.

You can check the profitability of the keyphrase before writing articles on it by looking at the no. of ads it has on Google Adwords and even spying directly at how people write their ads with this software. It’s just so nice for Bum Marketing and even Adwords Marketing.

Again, all these are optional. You may start free and get them once you have made some cash bumming.

Once you read this, you’ll soon realised that there are many more similar “system” scattered around the web that basically evolved on the same concept. I dare not to say which is the Pioneer but whatever it is, that’s not important to us. What’s important is that the system simply WORK!

Google Adwords Made Easy - This is a free ebook authored by Brad Callen as a promo weapon to his infamous Keyword Elite. You need to read this as well to have a basic understanding on Adwords and how keywords / keyphrases selection can make a difference to your success if you’re going to use PPC as your main traffic generation method.
